Sceptre Large Cap Canadian Equity Fund
Investment Objective
The objective of the Sceptre Large Cap Canadian Equity Fund is to achieve long-term growth through capital gains and dividend income while also meeting the needs such as capital preservation, risk management and tax effectiveness of private clients. The selection of core holdings is tailored to meet clients’ specific needs.
Investment Strategy
The process involves fundamental analysis and quantitative tools. The 100 largest companies in the S&P/TSX Index are continuously ranked by expected returns. In valuing each company, earnings growth, the appropriate valuation metrics for each company and its industry, dividend yield, the potential for dividend growth, quality of management, financial strength, and the stage of the business cycle are all considered.
Diversification is achieved by assuring that each of Canada’s four key economic sectors – interest sensitive, resources, industrials and consumer related – are represented in the portfolio with holdings totaling 30-40 stocks.
Stocks may be sold when their expected returns become unattractive and industry-specific or company-specific factors arise resulting in increased investment risk.
